What is AAA server?

Implementing wireless technology is the issue now; for countries citywide networks, corporates VoIP services, WiMAX, DSL access points for homes.. etc. In a large geograpgical scope network there are certain needs for user information management and accounting/billing information management, hence AAA server is there.

For example, an ISP or some corporate providing wireless connectivity to the Internet in a large area using consecutive overlaping wireless networks, is using RADIUS technology & “AAA Server”.

(Authentication Authorization Accounting server) A network server used for access control. Authentication identifies the user. Authorization implements policies that determine which resources and services a valid user may access. Accounting keeps track of time and data resources used for billing and analysis. See RADIUS, authentication server and access control. _ Source: PC MAGAZINE

VOIP Is Popular!

Skype, messengers like Yahoo and MSN use this technology to facilitate voice communication over the Internet. VOIP is just getting much more popular. From VOIP scripts to IP PBXs (for a company to provide low costs calls to its employees) to home phones with VOIP support; yet it is getting more popular. Now the open source VOIP is booming.

You can get into the trend adding some VOIP services to your site or just enjoy it at your home making overseas calls with very low costs, Net2phone is already making millions out of it!

Why use VOIP?

There are two major reasons to use VOIP

  • Lower Cost
  • Increased functionality
Increased Functionality

VOIP makes easy some things that are difficult to impossible with traditional phone networks.

  • Incoming phone calls are automatically routed to your VOIP phone where ever you plug it into the network. Take your VOIP phone with you on a trip, and anywhere you connect it to the Internet, you can receive your incoming calls.
  • Call center agents using VOIP phones can easily work from anywhere with a good Internet connection.

Another thing about it is just downloading some scripts and trying to use your computer as a phone to get experience with this interesting technology. Try this: voip@sourceforge.net
